What is a cookie ?
A cookie is a small text file placed on your device when you visit a website. Depending on its type, it may ensure the site functions correctly, remember your preferences, or — something we do not do — track your browsing for advertising or analytics purposes.
Cookies used on this site
Our approach is deliberately minimalist and respectful of your privacy :
We do not embed Google Analytics, any advertising network, or any social media pixel. Your browsing is therefore not tracked and no advertising profile is built.
Audience measurement on our guides
We measure which guides are opened and read, so that the most useful ones can be highlighted. This is done entirely in-house, with no third-party service and no cookie : a random identifier is held in the browser's session memory for the lifetime of your tab, and disappears when you close it.
No personal data is stored. Your IP address is never kept : it is used in memory only, to derive an anti-abuse counter hashed with a key that is renewed every day. Statistics are aggregated per article and per day, with no individual profile, no cross-referencing with other processing and no tracking from one site to another. We also record the type of referral — search engine, other website, internal navigation or direct access — but never the address of the originating page nor the words typed into a search. They are kept for thirteen months at most.
This measurement falls under the consent exemption for statistics strictly limited to the site itself. If your browser sends a “Do Not Track” or “Global Privacy Control” signal, no measurement takes place.
Technical & security cookies
To protect the site against abuse and ensure its availability, our content delivery provider Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary cookie (for example a short-lived anti-bot cookie). These cookies have no advertising purpose and are exempt from consent under applicable regulations.
Managing or deleting cookies
You remain in control : you can configure your browser at any time to accept, refuse, or delete cookies. The help pages of the main browsers explain how :
- Google Chrome : Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies.
- Mozilla Firefox : Options → Privacy & Security.
- Safari : Settings → Privacy.
- Microsoft Edge : Settings → Cookies and site permissions.
Blocking strictly necessary cookies may affect certain features, but the site remains accessible.
